This can only end in tears.
Apr. 26th, 2005 09:04 amSo, I was on Amazon the other day. Just browsing, adding stuff to my wishlist, trying to convince myself that that's all I was doing. I knew I was going to buy something. Books, and books, and books, and music, it's all so beautiful over there.
"The Adventures of Pete and Pete" comes out on DVD on May 17th. It's on my list. So are the first three volumes of "Batman: The Animated Series." I loved that show in, what, middle school? I think I also added the first Box Set of "Transformers" to my wishlist. It just occurred to me that I need "The Land Before Time" on DVD, too. That's a piece of my childhood, man.
and childhood's the point of this story. Someone told me that "Thundercats" was coming out on DVD soon, but they weren't sure when. So, I hopped back over to Amazon and searched for it -- and instead only found "M.A.S.K." I'm not sure how the two are connected, aside from both being '80s cartoons that I watched as a kid, but... And there was just one used copy listed, no new ones available. And it was only $14.
So, uhm, yeah, I threw that in a cart with another learn-to-write-better book (one specifically on Plot, as I think that's most of what I'm hung up on) and a CD by E Nomine (it's curious, it says the CD's got twenty-seven tracks on it, but E Nomine doesn't write short songs) and, well... I mean, this is a piece of my childhood, man!
Now, let me see if they have the original "Land Before Time," and not just the dozen shitty sequels that we bastardized from it...

Strange Fascinations
Apr. 26th, 2005 08:11 pmA part of me feels like it needs to build a Dummy Account so that it can keep track of odd little fascinations like this without elicting side-ways looks from friends and family...
On a related note, does anyone out there know where I might find an aesthetically-pleasing tarot deck?
Same vein, but more amusing than honestly interesting. Much like the first, it would be mostly useful as source-material for the modern-fantasy stories I'd like to write.
