jackofallgeeks: (Bashful)
Well, Christmas went well - I even almost got to relax. -laughs- The way I talk, people might think that I'm a ball of nerves and stress -- when I say 'relax', though, I mean having nothing to do and doing so. My break all-in-all has been rather relaxing.

My (extended) family has a tradition of having a big seven-fish seafood dinner on Christmas Eve, and this year was magnificent; possibly the best seafood I've had in a very long time. We had cod and scallops and shrimp and calamari and flounder and oysters and tuna-spaghetti (a mini-tradition in its own right). Very much good stuff, and lots of family-type goodness, which is always, well, good.

My (immediate) family also has a tradition of picking names for gift-giving, as getting 10 gifts each gets a bit excessive (and expensive). I had my littlest sister, Emily, this year, and picked her up a princess-dressup-kit (which she specifically asked for) and a Care Bear Cousin stuffed toy (as my own touch). I kinda broke with tradition (a mini-tradition in its own right) and got Gene some L5R cards, Josh the new Final Fantasy I & II for Gameboy Advanced, and Tim a CD by Switchfoot.

For myself, I made out pretty well. In summary I got: 1x Desk Calendar, 2x Book, 2x CD, 5x Video Game, and 7x DVD. Specifically, I got a Geek Humor desk calendar, an MtG novel (they used to be alright, but are notoriously bad these days; I hold a vain hope for this newest one), the Encyclopedia of Superstition, two Cruxshadows CDs ("Echoes and Artifacts" and "Paradox Addendum"), Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve, Tenchu: Silent Assassins, the Baldur's Gate 2 collection, Ladyhawke, Princess Bride, The Last Unicorn, The Mask of Zorro, Space Ghost Coast to Coast: Volume One, The Ultimate Matrix Collection, and Earth Girls are Easy -- that last was a White Elephant gift; it's rated PG, but I know I have no idea what it is. So, I guess with Box Sets counted out, I got 6x Video Game and 16x DVD. That Matrix Collection is insane...

And I guess that's about it. My brother, Gene and Josh, got on City of Heroes, so we've been playing in tandem. And I think I'll go do that.
