Live. Love. Be. Believe.
Sep. 17th, 2004 04:29 amSo, yes, as of tonight I have been to my first concert (I'm not counting Jim Infantino because while he was Live music, he wasn't really a performance. Still good, but... Sorry, Leslie). It was absolutely magnificent. The Cruxshadows had such charisma, and I have to give Rogue points for roaming the crowd the way he did. Rachel was wonderful on the Violin, which you could hear over all other instruments, which earns them more points. They started with 'Into the Ether' and did a whole bunch of songs which I knew well enough to sing along to, including 'Deception,' 'Winterborn,' 'Cassandra,' 'Citadel,' and a number more. After they'd 'finished,' they came back and played 'Marilyn, My Bitterness' as an encore, pulling people onto the stage, including Jenny and Anastasiya. Then, after they 'finished' again, they came back with a second encore of 'Monsters.' It was great.
Yes, Anastasiya made me changed out of my jeans and sneakers and into all black (I'm rather glad I did, too; I felt more the part). Yes, Jenny did straddle me and apply eye-liner (though I think I could have used more...). Yes, I did dance, and I ache so badly for it. But it was grand, and after Cruxshadows started playing, it was all adrenaline. By the end of their set (which was a lot longer than I thought it was -- it's nearly 4:30 now, and it was after 3:00 before we got home), I was hoarse, coughing, and exhausted. It was wonderful.
I bought another CD from them, and if I'd had another $20, I would have bought a T-shirt, too. as it is, I'm skipping Bio at Noon, but I still have Philosophy to get to at 1:00. Then, it's home to fetch Gene and Josh for the Champions of Kamigawa pre-release this saturday in Richmond. Whee.
