Today was really nice.
I picked Suzannah up at around 11:00, after packing my stuff for the next week (work, followed by a weekend in Virginia) and stopping by Panera for a caffe mocha. I was surprised, they had really good coffee.
I was met by her mom, sister, two dogs, and father -- and Ms. Suzannah, of course. they were, as always, very nice, and not intimidating, and we all admired Maggie, my new car -- though I think I disappointed her dad by not knowing how many cylinders (I'm almost sure it's 6) or how big a tank she had.
It was a short drive to the hotel where the competition was held -- the same Shereton that hosts Anime USA. Suzannah and I bumped into my grandparents when we got there, and in short order found where my little cousins were Dancing. Anna-Louise, my favored little cousin, was beautiful and impish as always, and i even got along unusually well with Julia -- she has an oddly snappish personality, but was really pleasant today. I love my cousins.
The competition was nice, though I think it dragged on a bit. It was Irish step-dancing, which I think is really nice both to listen to and watch, but after so many hours it all gets a bit tired. Suzannah also met some of my immediate family, specifically Mom, Tim, Greg, Beth, Becky, and Emily -- now she's just missing Dad, Jenny, and Josh. Becky, wanting attention, made something of a nuisance of herself. Suzannah took it well enough, though.
Afterward we went out to Fudruckers for Dinner, which was nice, though Uncle Bob seemed more than happy to dominate conversation. Everyone wanted to know who my friend was, as I expected, and at least twice she was asked if she were amish! -laughs-
It was about 7:00 after dinner, and I took her home because she was getting rather tired -- I was a bit tired myself, and i don't have an injury. So I took her home, and we had a nice drive back during which she said she'd had fun and that it was nice meeting some of my family. She said that it reminded her of her own relatives, and when I asked if that was good or bad, she laughed.
-smiles- She's a gorgeous girl. It'd be nice if, you know, we got together.
Work in the morning. Whee.
