Well, I obviously haven't gotten up that post about the trip to Alyce's. I have most of it written on paper here, but it's not yet done, and still needs to be transferred to digital media before it's posted. For a quick run down: It was great, really awesome seeing my friends again, Becky and Joe and Alyce and all of them. Dorian is not good for my health -- he had me wheezing with laughter from the moment he arrived. We got out and went around the Gettysburg battlefield, and it was good to just get out, and really see people and do things. Escape this thrice-damned digital wasteland. The ladies were all quite lovely, and the guys were very much cool. We went and climbed around on some rocks and stuff, and Joe and I both climbed this one Unclimbable Rock, which was really cool, though my right arm is still a bit sore from it.
Joe and Alyce rock.

At the moment, I'm on David's (my coworker) computer. This is because we tried reinstalling the OS onto my machine yesterday and, due to certain issues, failed. This morning I came in and it was half-way through installing again, and so I'm waiting for it to be done. I can't really do anything until my machine is up again.

My old boss from CPIT last semester, Patrick, just sent me an email. He's resigned from campus effective as of August 4th, so he won't be there when I get back. This is a little disappointing; Patrick's a cool guy.

I am now 85% sure to be in Ohio from August 13th until August 20th, visiting my lovely cousins for my (more or less) final week of Summer. Assuming everything DOES go through alright, that may prove to be my only true Vacation this entire summer. It'd be a nice way to wind down before starting classes up again on the 25th.

In other news -- My sister had an ultrasound, and it's confirmed: She's having a girl! They're (tentatively) going to name her Stephanie Elizabeth, which I think is a beautiful name. -nods to this- So, w00+. I'm gonna have a niece. -grins- You'll all have t'meet her someday. And come see the new house we're going to be building! My parents close on the deal today, and we're going to be building a beautiful house on a 3.5 acre lot down here in Southern Maryland, so it'll be a really pretty area and such.

About a month yet and I'll be back on the School's Network, and will probably make a better showing here Online. I hope t'see people more in the fall, both in person and Online, so I'm really looking forward to it. A guy could get lonely if he's not careful.

This I find rather interesting... It rather ties into another post I've been meaning to write (which ties into my trip to Alyce's)... I'll have to get that up, too...

OK, I semi-mentioned this issue before, but now I'm asking for input in actuality. I just build a couple machines, and except for one minor detail, they're running fine. The minor detail is this: They don't recognize their floppy drives.

Actually, that's not quite true. When the computer runs it's tests durring post, at power-up, it throws a "no floppy drive detected" error. Bypassing that and getting into Windows, it seems that Windows knows the drive is there, but it is unable to read any disks placed in the drive -- it doesn't see that there's a disk there. I ran Windows' troubleshooting on the drive, and the device manager says that the device is working propperly.

Mister Fader said something about checking if the Bios recognizes that the drive is there, and I recalled then that yes, the Bios does see it. I'm about to go check that, and then do some drive-swapping with other computers around the house to test the integrity of the drives. I'm inclined to doubt that it's the drives, as it's two sepparate machines, each with a floppy built by a different manufactuerer.

Any ideas out there?
