The punchline

Something occured to me just now, which has never occured to me before. What if I can't have kids? Now that'd be a cosmic joke. The one thing in the world that I want, a family, made all-but an imposibility.

-shrugs- Just idle thoughts. Anyways, you'll never know until you try.

What I find really sad is that of the couples I know that can't have their own children they all had to go out of the country to adopt babies. Apparently the paperwork here in the US is so indepth that it takes a very long time to get through. I know three couples that were all able to get their babies from Guatamala. I'm glad they were able to get a larger family started as they wanted but I do feel bad for the kids here.

*sigh*

I knew this family once who had all adopted kids -- five or six of them -- but except for one, there were all from different countries. Russia and China and stuff. Great family, though. And yeah, it's good that they get families, and yeah, the paperwork and screening that goes on here is, sadly, probably necessary, but especially when compared with the prospect of having your own kids (as this whole thing started with me speculating whether I might not), it's really a whole lot more difficult, and that was my point.
