Official: Vegetarianism a Perversion of Nature.

I found This to
be pretty amusing. There's a report out on a scientific study which claims
that vegetarianism is a "perversion of nature," and that it will kill you in
the end. there's also a bit in there which apparently claims that soured
milk is better for you than fresh milk, but I was a bit unclear on that
point.

True to form, The Register takes a nicely-British, tongue-in-cheek approach
to reporting the story.

-smirk- Actually, I'm pretty sure El Reg was making fun of an actual study that they thought was just as ridiculous as you did. They're quite clever. They did a piece (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/01/15/japan_farm_mechanoid_robot_exoskeleton_vegetable_terror/) about some Japanese Exoskeleton for farmers or something, and devolved into apocalyptic conjectures about "the day when the ancient nutrient-tank farmer homunculi inside the massive farm mechanoids eventually wig out, driven insane by centuries of wrestling with hundred-ton genetically enhanced fruit'n'veg, and march on the towns." You can really only ever take half of what you read on The Register seriously, and if it sounds absurd, it probably is.

I love them.

So are they like the British Onion, then?

No, they're more like... Maybe "the Daily Show" but in print. The news they give is actual, it's just their commentary that, sometimes, is a bit absurd. I trust they really did find a study that said all the arm-wavey things they quoted, but like I said, I'm sure *they* don't put any stock into such a crack-pot idea.
