Ask LiveJournal, He Knows

Have any of you out there known bottled Guinness Draught to... go bad? I mean, the bottled stuff is obviously not going to be as good as Guinness on-tap, but it seems to me that whenever I get the bottles it goes... sour after like a day or two. Sitting in the fridge, mind you. So either I'm imagining it, or I have really crummy luck, or there's actually something up. I haven't been able to find any kind of 'drink by' label or anything, so... Help?

Um, well Guinness is supposed to be bitter. And it's typically served warm. Maybe try not refridgerating it. Also, if you let beer go from warm to cold to warm to cold, it changes the chemistry and the flavor.

Bitter, yes -- I know how Guinness tastes at the bar, and I like that. This is sour, like bad milk. Also, there is a note on the bottles to 'serve extra cold' or similar, so I'm not sure that's it, either. If I get them again, I'll give it a shot, but...

I don't think that Guinness travels well, period.
