A Rose By Any Other Name Would Still Be Me

So I've been thinking for a long while that Rolias Noom needs to retire. He started out as an alias for gaming with my brothers, then grew into a semi-developed character concept while I role-played in AOL's Red Dragon Inn, durring it's twilight years. From there he became a more-developed character for a story I wanted to tell, and eventually he became me. I've been Roliasnoom for years now, but...

-shrugs- It's almost like I've grown out of it. I kind of want to, I don't know, have a change or something. Not that I have anything against RoliasNoom, it just feels... 'childish' isn't the right word. But he feels like he's from another chapter in my life which is coming to a close, if not already a few pages back.

Anyways, I have my own preferences in the following list, but I want your opinions. Assuming I do change my digital persona, I may go about getting this Journal renamed -- they can do that I hear, though there may be a charge... anyways...

I also like "wfflingjaberwocky". I've been meaning to ask why a guy would decide to choose as his username an obvious mirrortext of sailormoon. :)

See, normally, I would disavow and knowledge of that, and wave away any resemblance as pure coincidence. A very thin story indeed, but hey, we all play games. *laughs*

As I said, it started way back in Highschool or something when me and my brothers were playing fantasy-type games, and I 'needed' a name for my 'character' -- I didn't really need one, and it wasn't really much of a character. I'm not sure who suggested it, probably me, as mirroring matches my modus operandi at the time. And yeah, I watched Sailor Moon as an Adolescent. Sue me. It was then as it is now a horrid piece of cole-slaw as far as entertainment goes, but it had girls in short skirts, and I was 14 -- I think that speaks more-or-less for itself.

Anyways, when we had Rolias Noom, it had a nice sorta ring to it, and it stuck -- for years, actually, because I'm something of a creature of habit, and resistant to change in a lot of ways. It's fit all the way until now, but now I think I want something different.

Done. Strange when others changed their username I didn't have to refriend them. I wonder what they did different.

Rather, it's what I did differently. For a number of reasons I wanted to cut ties with RoliasNoom as a Journal -- certain hangers-on who I'd just as soon not have looking over my shoulder, and the fact that a lot of Spam was flowing in through my livejournal mail (my own fault, of course). By default, they keep all your Friends list and Friends Of lists intact, and forward references to your old journal direct to your new journal -- in that case, all my lists would stay the same and anything looking for RoliasNoom would get to JackOfAllGeeks.

Uhm, short story long, I told them to cut all my 'Friends Of' ties and not to forward RoliasNoom to me -- which means that in a month he'll be open for some teenaged girl to pick up, as opposed to permanently being attached to me.
