My Wishlist

My Wishlist

I figure I might try and keep this up to date, as I never know what to say when someone asks what I want for birthdays or holidays and such. So! Now I just point them here. And having a hyper-linked wishlist is just so convenient.

You... are too damned organized for your own good. O__o; *giggles* Nice list though. ^_^ Worthy of postage. *nodnods*

Oh no, I'm not organized at all -- you should see the messes I make... my desk, my floor, my car, my hard-drive... But I was bored, and I've wanted to get this sort of thing up for a while, so... viola.

Thumbs up on "The Usual Suspects."

Have you seen "Underworld"?

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The Usual Suspects is great!

And yeah, I just saw Underworld a couple weeks ago, and liked it all the way up to just-before the end. Rather like Blade that way... Thanks for reminding me! Any other movie suggestions? I have a tendancy to forget.

I haven't seen Blade. Should I?

Where did Underworld fall apart for you?

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I really liked the setting that Underworld had. I had a few gripes with their mythos (Vampires don't pass out from blood loss, they get hungry) and a couple other things, but I even liked the gang-war type set up of it. It fell apart for me about the time that Caballero (or whatever that human's name was) turned into The Swamp Thing. I also wasn't impressed with their Werewolf-effects or the look-my-head-was-cut-in-half. So, generally, we're talking the very end. My buddies weren't so kind, and kept griping something about accents or something, but I liked it for what it was.

Along similar lines, I would suggest you see Blade. I have the same sorts of gripes with Blade (vampires don't give birth), and the ending is about as cheesy-yuck, but all-in-all it's a pretty decent movie for what it is. So, yeah...

I too thought the werewolves were a bit lacking. The whole running on the walls/ceilings looked very unnatural.

I thought the idea of having Corvin turn into a cross-breed was cool. I think I found the cross-breed representation to be acceptable. But, sure, it could have been better.

Hmmm. :)

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that (the wall-crawling wolves) in particular bothered me.

I liked the idea of Corvin becoming a cross-breed, but I didn't like the representation very much at all. I think it could have been a lot better, and no nearly so cheese-laden.

[identity profile] timv.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
define "cheese-laden"

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I guess I was just really unimpressed by the fight between Corvin and the Vampire Ancient. That whole scene just lost my belief. Corvin got some blood in him, and went from the character he'd been the entire moie to a vicious, silent, animal-like killer, who jumps unbelievably around the room and such. -shrugs- I think they just lost a lot of credibility with their characters there.

Gotcha.

[identity profile] timv.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
(just being curious!)

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
^_^;;
I was afraid I'd offended you, but yeah, I was really unimpressed by how they handled the Cross-breed, but it's eally what I expecte from the film, being that same sort (ie, Blade and the like). Not to say I didn't like it, because I did, quite a bit. I just would have liked it more if they didn't pull that.

:-D

(I am glad I told ya I was just being curious.)

[identity profile] otakulk.livejournal.com 2004-03-19 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you didn't like underworld?

[identity profile] jackofallgeeks.livejournal.com 2004-03-19 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
-laughs-
No, see, you weren't paying attention. I had gripes with their vampire mythos. I didn't like their Werewolf effects. I thought the ending was really... lame, for lack of a better word. But I liked the movie, at least for what it was, and that being a vampire-type movie with a dark-ish world and a pretty British girl in leather. So, no, I liked it.
