Kotor

Well, I've taken to playing StarWar's Knights of the Old Republic, which I got thanks to Curtis. As is my wont, I'm playing two parallel games. The first one is a guy who I'm just playing as such -- if he falls to the light or the dark is not my concern, I'm just playing him as I envision him, and let the pieces fall where they may. As it is, he's in the upper quarter of the Light Side of the scale.

The other game is a girl, who I specifically want to see fall to The Dark Side. but I fear I'm forcing it too much. I'm too concerned with getting evil and getting evil now -- I'm almost afraid I won't have time to fall tothe Dark Side. She's pretty well below the Mid-point, but it feels forced. Gratuitous Evil, like those fairy tale witches who simply are evil. It's a far less satisfying game.

I'm thinking I may start her over, try and play her more believably from the beginning, and see if she ca't fall easily over to the Dark Side once she has gained The Force. I'm sure there are plenty of oportunities... After all, a tragic hero is that much more tragic if she has a longer fall ahead of her...

Uhm... I'm not sure a player can fall all the way unless they do it from the beginning because there are times you're almost forced to gain light side points and opportunities that affect light/dark are not quite as frequent as you might think. Besides it'll affect many conversations and part of the point is seeing the flip side of the game.

I played once through as "myself" which turns out to be a warrior/guardian of about 90% light. I'm playing through again as dark side, but to do that I have to force myself to think in a certain way (and naturally it does feel forced). I found it best to create a scoundrel girl who totally looks out for herself and her own interests. She doesn't stick out her neck for anyone unless she profits and she always takes the path of least resistance. She's a sneak and a thief. Fortunately I find roleplay is something I'm good at and defining a character like this in my mind helps to make it more believable to me.

OK, so Orin up there seems to think it's rather difficult to go Dark Side -- ie, genocide and sadism from step one. What about you -- is it concievable to fall if you're light/grey when you become a Jedi? How easy do you think it is to go Dark?
