Footnotes

Quick update before my trip:

Burned four CDs, 'Eclectic,' 'Twilight,' 'Retrofitted,' and 'Audio Shame.' Eclectic is just a collection of songs I thought I'd put onto a CD, and the different styles that ended up there produced the name. Twilight is the next in a long line of my Evening-type CDs, meaning it's rather high on the unrequited-love-and-regret scale. Retrofitted is a compilation of Mega Man game music remixes; much the fun stuff there, yes. And finally, Audio Shame is a CD of my "guilty pleasures," all those songs I enjoy, but can't admit to liking. I'd give an example or two, but that'd be telling.  ^_~

Dad power-washed the back deck t'day. It had what we estimated to be 15 years of accumulated gunk. It looks like a new deck now!

I'm seeing people t'day. That means I shaved.

I'm -trying- to make plans to see my lovely cousins up in Ohio this coming month, before Rachel and I head out to our espective schools.

Still no word on extending my contract.

'Smurf,' a term coined by my younger brother to replace vulgar expletives, has taken up a following, both in Ohio and South Africa, it seems. I will dedicate days of my life toward the propagation of this term.

I will never watch a show of "The Smurfs" on Cartoon Network the same way again.

Talked with Emily the other day. I rather like her, yes'm. The sky is blue.

Talked with Nancy the other day. I think we may yet have a decent friendship. The fingerprints of koala bears are nearly indistinguishable from humans'.

I amuse myself by imagining that someone, somewhere, might read my posts and giggle.
Sometimes, I imagine I'm clever.

And now, off to Gettysburg!

The giggling isn't just in your imagination. I'm giggling. But the cleverness... ah... you'll just have to keep dreaming. ::winks::

Love you, have a good trip!

You talked to Nancy? Koala bears?

::confusion::

Yeah, about that...

-laughs-
See, here's a bit of that imagined cleverness I was talking about. I think far too much about my own writings...

It's a series of six lines, really, two sets. The first set is "Talked with Emily the other day. I rather like her, yes'm. The sky is blue." The first line is the setup, the second the conclusion, and the third a logical connection to The World At Large. In this case, it's all rather obvious, no?

The second set is the one you refer to, "Talked with Nancy the other day. I think we may yet have a decent friendship. The fingerprints of koala bears are nearly indistinguishable from humans'." Setup, conclusion, connection; in this case, apparently it's a fact, but no one would have ever guessed it.

And I suppose to explain further: I've been back in touch with Nancy, we've written a few emails back and forth, and there's actually been a bit of substance there. So... -shrugs- There you have it.

I kinda figured that. ::grins:: That's cool, though. Knowing how you hate to lose touch with people, you must be very happy.

Heh. Well, I must say, it is a bit odd. Partially because it sticks me in an odd position between the two of you. Not, mind you, that I fear either will side effect the other or anything, but just the whole deal, y'know what I mean? -laughs- That was horribly vague.

But, yes, assuming she and I can develop and maintain a healthy sort of relationship, I think we may have any number of things to discuss, and discussion has always been one of my favorite pastimes.

Well, personally, I look at it this way: I'm your friend, she's your friend, and that doesn't mean that ever the twain have cause to meet. I for one have no problem with you staying in touch with her; I'm happy for it, as a matter of fact, 'cause I know how you love to keep friends and stay in touch.

-grins- Quite a healthy attitude, yes'm.
I had something more meaningful to say, but I've since forgotten.
