Oh my...! That was just...! There's no...! You just can't...!

American Beauty. See it.
Kevin Spacey is now my ultimate favorite actor. Ever.
Words can not convey....

Trevor and I just watched American Beauty, which (as Leslie will attest to) I had said I'd never watch. I mean, really, a movie about a guy who wants to have sex with his daughter's friend? What redeaming quality could a movie like that possibly have? Has America really sunk so low? That was definitely not something I was interested in.
"Want me to kill him for you...?"

But that's not what the movie was about at all. Not at all.
"I think you've just become my personal hero."

There's so much symbolism in there. There's so much that can be read into it!
"Never under-estimate the power of denial."

And in the end, Leslie was right all along. He did the right thing. And not just with the girl.
He did the right thing through the whole movie. He did the right thing.
"There's just so much beauty in the world..."

The plastic bag, man. Stunning.

Dude, listening to that dude with the video camera, I was just thinking, "Now I KNOW why Leslie adores this movie. He just fits her style of thinking..."

It was really a grand film, and there's so much symbolism and they say such things! I'm sure you and I could sit for hours with that movie, picking it apart. -grins-

American Beauty .... look closer.

That is why American Beauty is, and probably always will be, my favourite movie of all time. It has this power to move you, to touch you, on so many levels for so many different things. It is brash reality, it is basic human actions, it is life infused with all the things we never take time to think about. You can connect with a number of scenes no matter who you are or what your background is. And when you are able to see past the surface of what's going on, it is amazing.

Finally!!

I'm with Leslie... Thank God you saw it!!
I won't say I told you so... but I will do a little dance of joy...

::does her dance::

That was cool. Aww!! I am SO glad you finally saw it! That movie has such incredible high quality acting, and the standards of the director and cinematography are incredible. There are themes and the scripting is amazing. I absolutely adore that movie.

Kevin Spacey's acceptance speech started with holding up the oscar and saying "This is the highlight of my day. It's all downhill from here."

Such a good movie. Saw it recently, in fact. I'm glad you finally saw it.

I'm glad you appreciate it.
