Quick little update

Just a quick little update before my next meeting (I swear, that's all I do any more!).

First, had an awesome, awesome chat with my whateveritis, Valerie (she's part advisor, part supervisor, part almost-coworker, all very awesome lady). The first 10 to 15 minutes were business, but then we just chatted for 15 or 20 minutes, and that was great. She's awesome.

Second, I don't care how much trouble you're having in a class, people need to not complain about other people doing well. Especially when it comes down to "he's ruining the curve!" Pardon my french, but that's bullshit. If you're relying on a curve to get you through, something's wrong with your priorities. (As a note, no, such remarks were not directed at yours truely, that I know of, but rather to some other guys who really DO get it. And good on them; they deserve the higher grade they get. For me and the rest, we just need to apply ourselves as best we can and work to get a passing grade. Complaining that others are doing better is worse than useless.)

And suddenly, I'm gone.

Yeah I saw a lot of that curve ruining bullshit comments in undergrad, but graduate classes seemed to be more... civilized? mature?
Either way I am surprised there was that kind of shit at a graduate level. By that point people should realize that they are paying for the education, and they can get out of it what they put into it.
