What IS her real name, and why do they call her 'Ducky'?
Well, that was suitably pleasant.
Jason and Jessi were kind enough to let me have St. Patrick's dinner with them tonight. So, after my class, I drove across town to Jason's new apartment -- which is really nice looking, from the three rooms I saw. 'Home-y,' too. and it only took, like, 20minutes to get there, as opposed to the 45 the last time I tried to get over that way -- mostly because I didn't get lost. Until I entered the building. Who knew room 117 would be so hard to find. In my defense, all the apartment doors looked like broom closets with numbers next to them, so...
I picked up some beer on the way over there; I wanted to get Guinness, but at 8pm on St. Patrick's day, the closest they had was 'extra stout.' Which I got, because I'd promised myself that I would have a Guinness to celebrate. And I did. Have a Guiness. As in singular. And I liked it, too: it was good to the last drop. But that last drop was *really* bitter! It took me as long to finish that last bit as it did for the whole rest of the beer. But it was good, I think.
Jessi made a wonderful dinner, with real corned beef, and those sorts of half-mashed potatoes, with the, uhm, green things in'em. She didn't know this, but I really *love* those kind of potatoes; extra points. And she had cheese-bread biscuits and buttered corn. And we had beer and cider. And there was joy. Dinner got off on a good foot with Jason's graceful cutting of the cornbeef, followed by Jessi's graceful buttering of her bread, and all mixed in with my graceful, uhm... well, I'm sure I contributed *something*.
Afterward we sat and placed a quick game of 'Scene It', which is a how-much-useless-trivia-about-movies-do-YOU-know game. I answered some question about a computer-based sci-fi movie with Keanu Reeves (anyone else see that one?), but that was about it. Jason *should* have won, I think, cause he knew the most about the movies, but Jessi did in the end, mostly because he missed the one about Nick Cage playing a mopey angel...
We also played a game of "Chez Geek" I think it was (and had ice cream) which was a *really* fun game that I want to get a copy. Each player is some geek or another, presumably sharing an apartment with each other, and the goal is to earn the most slack points. Jessi got really close -- about 16 points of her goal of 18 -- but at the last second Jason killed her dog and I snuck in with a jump from 16 to 19 for the win.
Oh, I even found something green to wear! My ancestors are so proud. It was actually my old YOA shirt, YOA being my youth group in highschool. -grins- Tribe of Judah, and all that, though no one here but my relatives have any idea what that means. I wore it under my grey stafford shirt (which I love very much), mostly because then you couldn't see the large "YOA" logo on the back (which would embarrass me), and partly just because I don't often feel comfortable in just a t-shirt. I unbottoned it while at Jason's, and I have it just so now, and I must say I kinda like it. It's probably some kind of fashion crime (brown cords, grey stafford unbuttoned over a green t-shirt), but I rather like it.
Thank you very much, Jessi and Jason, for having me over. It made my day, and the food really was delicious; just like Aunt Mary-Lou would make it! -laughs-

Heh, I never said I had difficult tastes. I'm a simple guy, really.
And, face it, I'm just a slackier geek than you. Hells, I'm CompSci; it's a requirement to be a slacker!
