OK, so here's the deal... Rachel was looking around at LJ Icons, and found An Icon from an Alan Cumming Set on a SmutPage, which she said was just too perfect for me. And I have to agree -- Nightcrawler rocks in so many ways. He was one of my favorie Marvel characters since I was a kid, and when they really brought his German-Catholic character out in the X2 movie, that just kiked ass.

I'm a little undecided, though. I like the picture, but... Well, I've tried my hand at a few others, so I need opinions. Do you like the Original, MyVersion00, MyVersion01, or MyVersion10? Do you have any suggestions for how I might fix my icons if they're hard to read or cramped or something? I have the Source File that I used, too.

Update: Thanks to a great bit of help from Mrs. Dawn, and a suggestion from Rachel, I have chosen... MyVersion11!

MyVersion11

MyVerson11 was a typo -- it should be MyVersion10. It's binary.

If it wasn't for the fact that you said you found the link off a Tolkien site, I'd be inclined to disbelieve you... But since you did, I guess you're innoent. -grins-

I have to agree that Cumming rocks. I liked him at Nightcrawler so much that that alone is enough for me to want the X2 DVD for Christmas. The trouble is the the picture just... If you didn't KNOW (which, right now most probably would) that he's Nightcrawler, you'd never guess. just some guy with black skin and yellow eyes.

What I really like about my SourceFile is the Roman Collar -- that just did it for me. Because of that, I like MyVersion01, because it has the best shot of the collar, but I think the words are too light, which is why I tried doing MyVersion10 with the back background, so...

If you like MyVersion01 except for the lightness of the letters, just put a thin black stroke around the letters to help them stand out. You should have the text on a seperate layer, so right click on that layer, click blending options, click on Stroke at the bottom to highlight it. On the right side, choose the color of your stroke, and how thick you want it to be, and play with the inside, outside, center til it looks how you want it.

See?

That might work... I also just liked that greenish color better as well. I thought it went well with the darkness of the character. It's a neat color. :-)

That is a quote I snarfted from my hubby, I thought it was mucho cool, and just had to iconize it.

Any time you need icon/photoshop help, just ask me. I made my first icon about 3 months ago, and now have made maybe 600, so I've picked up a thang or two.
