Amen to That
So, this guy over on Felicia's Journal (I'm assuming from context that it's her brother) said a few things that I think bear noting; so, I thought I'd put them up here on my journal for easy reference.
Instead of relying on people to know what you think, it needs to be said - that's one of the most challenging things I've learned about communication because mom and dad aren't exactly the best teachers. No two people share the exact same perspective on events in life, so you can't expect people to just know how you feel or automatically interpret what has happened the same way you have.
Sometimes I feel that some people get so wrapped up in the communities online that they miss out on really "living." It's hard for me to believe that someone would rather chat online for hours than to go to the beach and converse with friends - notice the subtleties of tone, the facial expressions (raised eyebrows, cocked smile, squinting eyes - the eyes oh how they are important!), hear the laughter and munch on each other's ice cream cones :P
Givin' love to da Andrew and his post
All I have to say to the above is Fuck yeah! I would so rather see people in person. Yeah there are people that I can't see right not (ie you, Louis, Alyce most of the time, Linwood, Ok, yeah, most of my friends etc) but at the same time that's what a phone is for dude. You can at least hear the intonation in their voices. (I think that's why I love sparring so much.
The person who wrote that I'd love to shake their hand one day. And you rock for putting it up again. Too many people forget that and become obsessed with things that are online, loosing their lives to the computer instead of the world around them. ^^
